Introduction
The TPS65185x device is a single-chip power supply designed for E Ink Vizplex displays used in portable e-reader applications. This device supports panel sizes of 9.7 inches and larger. Two high-efficiency DC/DC boost converters generate ±16V voltage rails. These two voltage rails are boosted to 22V and -20V respectively through two charge pumps, thereby providing gate drive power for the Vizplex panel. Two tracking LDOs generate ±15V source drive power, supporting a maximum output current of 120/200mA (TPS65185/TPS651851). All voltage rails can be adjusted via the I²C interface to meet specific panel requirements. The device provides an accurate backplane bias voltage through a linear amplifier and offers 9-bit control of the voltage value via a serial interface, with a voltage adjustment range from 0V to –5.11V. It also has the ability to sink/source current according to different panel conditions. The TPS65185x supports automatic panel jump voltage measurement, eliminating the need for manual VCOM calibration on the production line. The measurement results are stored in non-volatile memory and become the new default VCOM power-on value.
