Introduction
The DRV10974 device is a three-phase sensorless motor driver with integrated power MOSFETs, capable of providing a continuous drive current of up to 1 A (rms). This device is designed for cost-sensitive, low-noise, and low external component count applications. The DRV10974 device uses a proprietary sensorless control scheme to provide reliable commutation. 180° sinusoidal commutation significantly reduces the pure tones typical of 120° (trapezoidal) commutation. The rotation of the DRV10974 is configured using an external low-power resistor. The current limit can be set using an external low-power resistor. By applying a PWM input to control the drive voltage amplitude or driving the PWM pin with an analog voltage and then monitoring the speed feedback on the FG pin, the DRV10974 device can easily control the motor speed. The DRV10974 device includes many features that improve efficiency. Since the device supports the configuration of the advance angle via a resistor, users can optimize the driver efficiency by adjusting the phase current and phase BEMF. Additionally, the MOSFETs used in the device have a low rDS(on), which helps save power when driving the motor.
