Introduction
The LTC2951 is a micropower, wide input voltage range, push button on/off controller. The device includes a level-translating push button input for controlling an open-drain enable output. The push button off debounce time is externally adjustable, while the on debounce time is fixed at 128ms. A simple microprocessor interface facilitates proper system housekeeping prior to power-down. Under system fault conditions, an adjustable KILL timeout delay ensures correct power-down. The LTC2951 operates over a wide 2.7V to 26V input voltage range to accommodate a wide variety of input supplies. Very low quiescent current (6μA typical) makes the LTC2951 an ideal choice for battery-powered applications. The device is available in two versions providing either positive or negative enable polarity. Packages are the 8-lead 3mm×2mm DFN and ThinSOT.
The LTC2951 is a low power (6μA), wide input voltage range (2.7V to 26.4V), push button on/off controller that interfaces with a microprocessor and power supply. The device incorporates all the flexible timing necessary to debounce a push button input (PB). The LTC2951 also provides a simple interface (INT output, KILL input) designed to allow the system to power up and power down in a controlled manner. The wide input voltage range enables system designers to use a single cell or multiple stacked cells as the operating supply for the device. The very low quiescent current makes the LTC2951 an ideal choice for continuously monitoring the on/off push button of handheld devices.
