Introduction
Atmel ATA5577C is a contactless read/write identification IC (IDC) for 125kHz or 134kHz frequency band applications. A single coil is connected to the chip, serving as both the power supply and bidirectional communication interface for the IC. The antenna and chip together form a transponder or tag. The on-chip 363-bit EEPROM (11 blocks of 33 bits each) supports block-wise read and write operations from a base station (reader). Data is transmitted from the IDIC via load modulation (uplink), achieved by attenuating the RF field using a resistive load across two terminals.
