Introduction
The FAN3100 2A gate driver is designed to drive a single N-channel enhancement MOSFET in low-side switching applications by delivering high peak current pulses during short switching intervals. The driver supports TTL (FAN3100T) or CMOS (FAN3100C) input thresholds. Internal circuitry holds the output low until the supply voltage enters the operating range, providing undervoltage lockout (UVLO) protection. The FAN3100 delivers fast MOSFET switching performance to maximize efficiency in high-frequency power converter designs. The FAN3100 driver integrates the MillerDrive™ architecture in its output stage. This bipolar-MOSFET combination delivers high peak current during the Miller plateau phase of MOSFET turn-on/turn-off transitions, minimizing switching losses while providing rail-to-rail voltage swing and sink/source current capability. The FAN3100 also features a dual-channel input that can be configured for in-phase or inverting operation, with support for an enable function. If one or both inputs are left unconnected, internal resistors bias the inputs to pull the output low, keeping the power MOSFET off. The FAN3100 is available in a leadless 2×2 mm 6-lead plastic MLP package for excellent thermal performance in a minimal footprint, or in an industry-standard 5-pin SOT23 package.
