Introduction
ADN8835 is a monolithic TEC controller integrating a TEC controller. It features a linear power stage, a PWM power stage, and two zero-drift rail-to-rail chopper amplifiers. The linear controller works in conjunction with the PWM driver to control internal power MOSFETs in an H-bridge configuration. By measuring the feedback voltage from a thermal sensor and using an integrated op-amp as a PID compensator to regulate the signal, the ADN8835 drives current through the TEC to stabilize the temperature of a laser diode or passive components connected to the TEC module at a programmed target temperature.
The ADN8835 supports NTC thermistors as well as PTC RTDs. The target temperature can be set via an analog voltage input from a DAC or an external resistor voltage divider.
The ADN8835 temperature control loop is stabilized through PID compensation utilizing built-in zero-drift chopper amplifiers. An internal 2.50 V reference provides 1% accuracy output for biasing the thermistor temperature sensing bridge and voltage divider networks to program the maximum TEC current and voltage limits in heating and cooling modes. With zero-drift chopper amplifiers, excellent long-term temperature stability is maintained through an autonomous analog temperature control loop.
