Introduction
The production process is strictly controlled and follows an extensive set of instructions to ensure repeatability. Cermet film layers and glass cover layers are deposited on both sides of a high-grade (Al₂O₃) ceramic substrate, with prefabricated internal contacts on both sides of the substrate. A special laser is used to fine-trim the resistive layer to achieve the target resistance value without damaging the ceramic. The resistive element is covered by a protective coating for electrical, mechanical, and climatic protection. Terminations are finished with pure tin plating over nickel. Final production results are verified by an extensive test program performed on 100% of individual chip resistors. Only conforming products are placed directly into carrier tape in accordance with IEC 60286-3 Type 1a and Type 2a.
