Introduction
ST485 is a low-power transceiver for RS-485 and RS-422 communications. Each device contains one driver and one receiver. The transceiver draws 300μA (typical) supply current with no load or with the driver disabled and full load. It operates from a single 5V supply. The driver features short-circuit current limiting and is protected by a thermal shutdown circuit that places the driver outputs in a high-impedance state to prevent excessive power dissipation. The ST485 is designed for half-duplex bidirectional data communications on multipoint bus transmission lines.
