Introduction
The LM393 is an IC consisting of two independent, high-precision voltage comparators with a low input offset voltage of 2.0mV maximum. It is designed for a wide supply voltage range and single-supply operation, though dual-supply operation is also supported. Regardless of supply voltage, the supply current consumption remains very low. A key feature is that even with single-supply operation, the common-mode input voltage range of the comparators extends close to ground. Primary applications include limiters, simple ADCs, pulse generators, square wave generators, delay generators, wide-range VCOs, MOS clock timers, multivibrator oscillators, and high-level digital logic gates. The LM393 is designed for direct interfacing with TTL and CMOS; when operated from dual supplies, it is compatible with MOS logic — a unique advantage of the low-power LM393 over standard comparators.
