Introduction
TP4054 is a complete linear Li-ion battery charge management IC featuring a full trickle/constant-current/constant-voltage three-stage charging mode. Housed in a compact SOT23-5L package with an integrated MOSFET power output, it requires no external resistors or isolation diodes, minimizing the number of peripheral components and making it easy to design into portable products. The TP4054's input/output ports withstand up to 11V, making it suitable for various USB power supplies and adapter power environments. Under high-voltage, high-energy operation or elevated ambient temperatures, an advanced thermal control circuit automatically reduces the charge current to lower the die temperature and improve operational reliability.
The TP4054 charge current is programmable via a single external resistor. An advanced charge current monitoring system automatically terminates charging when the float voltage is reached and the charge current drops to 1/10 of the programmed value. The charge termination voltage is set at 4.2V. When the charge source is removed, the IC automatically enters a low-current state of 1.0μA, minimizing leakage current impact on battery capacity.
The TP4054 incorporates a reverse-polarity protection function. When the Li-ion battery is connected in reverse, the IC automatically enters a protection state, preventing breakdown or damage and reducing the risk of accidents caused by battery self-discharge.
The TP4054 also features input undervoltage lockout and automatic recharge, with a dedicated pin for connecting an indicator LED to display charging status.
