Introduction
The DS1307 is a low-power, full binary-coded decimal clock/calendar with 56 bytes of non-volatile SRAM. Address and data are transferred serially via the I2C bus. The clock/calendar provides seconds, minutes, hours, day, date, month, and year information. End-of-month date adjustments are made automatically for months with fewer than 31 days, and leap year compensation is supported. The clock operates in either 24-hour or 12-hour format with an AM/PM indicator. The DS1307 integrates a power-sense circuit that detects power failures and automatically switches to the backup battery supply when the primary power source fails.
