MAX3085E is a high-speed RS-485/RS-422 transceiver with ±15kV ESD protection, integrating one driver and one receiver. The device guarantees a logic-high output when the receiver input is open or shorted. This means that if the driver on the terminal bus is disabled (high-impedance state), the receiver output will be logic high. The MAX3085E provides a higher driver output slew-rate limit, supporting data rates up to 500kbps. All driver outputs and receiver inputs are protected to ±15kV using the Human Body Model. These transceivers typically draw low supply current into the terminal bus when unloaded or when the driver is disabled. All devices feature a receiver input impedance of 1/8 unit load, allowing up to 256 transceivers on the bus. The MAX3085E is suitable for half-duplex communication.
