MAX3072E is a 3.3V-powered RS-485/RS-422 single-driver and receiver transceiver with ±15kV ESD protection. The device integrates protection circuitry to ensure the receiver output remains at a logic-high level when the receiver inputs are open or shorted. If all drivers on a properly terminated bus are disabled (high-impedance state), the receiver output is also logic-high. The device features plug-and-play capability, eliminating spurious transitions on the bus during power-up or hot-swap events. The MAX3072E driver features a slew-rate-limited output, supporting data rates up to 250kbps. The device is designed for half-duplex communication, and all devices feature 1/8-unit-load receiver input impedance, allowing up to 256 drivers to be connected on the bus.
