Introduction
TC1232 is a fully integrated processor supervisory circuit that provides three critical functions for ensuring stable processor operation: precision power-on/power-off reset control, a watchdog timer, and external reset override. At power-up, after VCC enters the tolerance range, TC1232 holds the processor in reset for a minimum of 250ms to ensure stable system startup. Processor status is monitored by an on-board watchdog circuit. The microprocessor must provide a periodic active-low signal on the ST input pin. If the processor fails to provide this signal within the selected timeout period (150ms, 600ms, or 1200ms), it indicates a processor runaway condition, and TC1232 will assert a processor reset signal. When the PB input is pulled low by an external pushbutton switch or other electronic signal, the TC1232 output is immediately driven active. When connected to a pushbutton switch, TC1232 provides contact debouncing. TC1232 is available in space-saving 8-pin PDIP or SOIC packages, and a 16-pin SOIC (wide-body) package, and requires no external components.
