The MAX3080E is a high-speed RS-485/RS-422 transceiver with ±5kV ESD protection, integrating both a driver and a receiver. The device ensures that the receiver output remains at a logic-high level when the driver input is open or shorted. This means that when all terminated drivers on the bus are disabled (high-impedance state), the receiver output will be at a logic-high level. The MAX3080E reduces the driver slew rate to minimize EMI and reduce signal reflections caused by improper cable termination, supporting error-free data transmission at up to 115kbps. All devices feature ±15kV ESD protection, with driver outputs and receiver inputs protected to ±15kV using the Human Body Model. These transceivers typically draw low supply current when unloaded or when the driver is disabled. All devices have a receiver input impedance of 1/8 unit load, allowing up to 256 drivers to be connected on the bus. The MAX380E is suitable for full-duplex communication.
