The MAX3088 high-speed transceiver is designed for RS-485/RS-422 communications, integrating one driver and one receiver. The device guarantees a logic-high output when the receiver inputs are open or shorted. This means that if all drivers on a properly terminated bus are disabled (high-impedance state), the receiver output will be logic-high. The MAX3088's driver features an unconstrained slew rate, enabling data rates up to 10Mbps. These transceivers typically draw low quiescent current when idle or when the driver is disabled. All devices feature 1/8 unit load receiver input impedance, allowing up to 256 transceivers to be connected on the bus. The MAX3088 is suitable for half-duplex communications.
