The MAX3078E is an RS-485/RS-422 transceiver integrating one driver and one receiver. The device incorporates built-in protection circuitry to ensure the receiver output remains logic-high when the receiver inputs are open or shorted. If all drivers on a terminated matching bus are disabled (high-impedance state), the receiver output is also logic-high. These devices feature plug-and-play capability, eliminating spurious transitions on the bus during power-up or hot-swap events. The MAX3078E driver's slew-rate-unlimited rise time supports data rates up to 15Mbps. The device is suitable for half-duplex communication. Its receiver input impedance is 1/8 unit load, allowing up to 256 drivers to be connected on the bus.
