Introduction
The SN74HC259DR-JSM is an 8-bit addressable latch with four operating modes. In addressable latch mode, data is written through the D input to the latch selected by address lines A0 through A3; the selected latch follows the data input while unselected latches retain their current state. In memory mode, all latches hold their states regardless of data and address inputs. In 3-to-8 decoder/demultiplexer mode, the selected output follows the D input while all other outputs are driven low. In reset mode, all outputs are forced low regardless of data and address inputs. Inputs include clamp diodes, enabling connection to interfaces with voltages exceeding Vcc through current-limiting resistors.
