Introduction
The SN74HC/HCT573 is an 8-bit D-type latch with three-state outputs. The device features a latch enable (LE) and an output enable (OE) control. When LE is high, input data is transparently passed through to the latch outputs — the latch operates in transparent mode, with outputs tracking the corresponding D inputs. When LE goes low, the latch retains the input data captured one setup time before the falling edge of LE. Driving OE high forces the outputs into a high-impedance state. OE operation does not affect the data stored in the latch. Clamp diodes are integrated at the device inputs, allowing the input interface to be connected to voltages above VCC through series current-limiting resistors.
