Introduction
The HCPL4503 device each consists of an infrared emitting diode and a high-speed photodetector transistor, coupled via optical means. Separate connections for the photodiode bias and output transistor collector reduce the base-collector capacitance of the input transistor, improving speed by several orders of magnitude over conventional phototransistor couplers. The device is available in an 8-pin DIP package with wide-lead-spacing and SMD options.
