The MAX3089 high-speed transceiver is designed for RS-485/RS-422 communications, incorporating one driver and one receiver. These devices guarantee a logic-high receiver output when the receiver inputs are open or shorted. This means that if all drivers on the terminated bus are disabled (high-impedance), the receiver output will be logic high. The MAX3089 operates at data rates up to 12Mbps. These transceivers typically draw supply current when unloaded or when the driver is disabled. The receiver input impedance of these devices is 1/8 unit load, allowing up to 256 receivers on the bus. The MAX3089 is designed for full-duplex communication.
