The MAX3086 high-speed transceiver is designed for RS-485/RS-422 communications, incorporating one driver and one receiver. These devices guarantee a logic-high receiver output when the receiver inputs are open or shorted. This means that if all drivers on the terminated bus are disabled (high-impedance), the receiver output will be logic high. The MAX3086 driver features an unlimited slew rate, enabling data transmission at speeds up to 10Mbps. These transceivers typically draw minimal supply current when unloaded or with the driver disabled. All devices feature 1/8 unit-load receiver input impedance, allowing up to 256 transceivers to be connected on a single bus. The MAX3086 is suitable for full-duplex communications.
