MAX1482 is a low-power transceiver for RS-422 communications. It features a slew-rate-limited driver that reduces EMI and minimizes reflections caused by improper cable termination. Data rates up to 250kbps are guaranteed. The MAX1482 operates from a low-power supply, offers a low-current shutdown mode, and is powered by a single 5V supply. The driver includes short-circuit current limiting and is protected by a thermal circuit that places the driver outputs into a high-impedance state to prevent excessive power dissipation. The receiver inputs feature failsafe functionality, ensuring a logic-high output when the inputs are open-circuited. The MAX1482 is full-duplex with 1/8-unit-load input impedance, guaranteeing support for up to 256 transceivers on the bus.
