The LM2674MX regulator is a monolithic integrated circuit ideally suited for easy design of buck switching regulators (step-down converters). It is capable of driving a 1.0A load with excellent line and load regulation. The device is available in an adjustable output version. Internal compensation minimizes the number of external components, simplifying power supply design. Since the LM2674MX is a switch-mode power supply, its efficiency is significantly higher than that of common three-terminal linear regulators, especially at higher input voltages. The LM2674MX operates at a 300kHz switching frequency, allowing the use of smaller filter components compared to lower-frequency switching regulators. The device is housed in a standard SOP8 surface-mount package. Additional features include a guaranteed ±4% output voltage tolerance and a guaranteed ±15% oscillator frequency tolerance under specified input voltage and output load conditions. An external shutdown function is included, with a typical standby current of 50μA. Self-protection features include cycle-by-cycle current limiting of the output switch and thermal shutdown, providing comprehensive protection under fault conditions. The device is suitable for automotive or medical equipment or systems.
