Introduction
The ST25R3911B is a highly integrated NFC initiator/HF reader IC comprising an analog front end and a highly integrated data framing system. It supports operation as an ISO18092 (NFCIP-1) initiator, ISO18092 (NFCIP-1) active target, ISO14443A and B reader (including high bit rates), and FeliCa reader. Additional standards and custom protocols (such as MIFARE Classic) can be implemented using its analog front end via an external microcontroller in stream mode and transparent mode. The device is fully suited for NFC systems requiring outstanding RF performance, flexibility, and low-power capability. Its automatic antenna tuning technology makes it an ideal choice for direct-drive antenna applications. This IC stands out in the HF reader IC segment by featuring two differential low-impedance (1 Ω) antenna drivers. It integrates multiple functions well-suited for low-power applications, including a low-power capacitive sensor for detecting card presence without activating the reader's RF field, and a method for card detection by measuring the amplitude or phase of the antenna LC resonator signal and comparing it against stored reference values. It also incorporates a low-power RC oscillator and wake-up timer that can wake the system after a defined time period, using one or more low-power detection techniques (capacitive, phase, or amplitude) to check for tag presence. The device is designed to operate over a wide supply voltage range (2.4 V to 5.5 V), with peripheral interface I/O pins supporting a supply voltage range of 1.65 V to 5.5 V.
Features
- ISO18092 (NFCIP-1) active peer-to-peer, ISO14443A, ISO14443B, and FeliCa protocol support
