Introduction
High-efficiency DCS-Control topology. The TPS6292xx series devices are highly efficient, compact, highly flexible, and easy-to-use synchronous step-down DC/DC converters. The wide input voltage range of 3V to 17V supports a variety of systems powered by 12V, 5V, or 3.3V rails, or single-cell or multi-cell Li-ion batteries. The TPS629206 can be configured to operate in forced PWM mode or variable frequency (auto PFM) mode at 2.5 MHz or 1 MHz. In auto PFM mode, the device automatically transitions to power-save mode at light loads to maintain high efficiency. In addition, a low typical quiescent current of 4µA enables high efficiency at very light loads. TI's Automatic Efficiency Enhancement (AEE) mode automatically adjusts the switching frequency based on input and output voltages, maintaining high conversion efficiency across the entire operating range without requiring different inductors. In addition to selecting switching frequency behavior, the MODE/S-CONF input pin can also be used to select between different combinations of external and internal feedback voltage dividers and enable/disable output voltage discharge functionality. In the internal feedback configuration, a resistor between the FB/VSET pin and GND can be used to select among 18 different output voltage options.
