Introduction
The TJA1049 high-speed CAN transceiver provides an interface between a CAN protocol controller and the physical two-wire CAN bus. Designed for high-speed CAN applications in the automotive industry, it offers differential transmit and receive capability for CAN protocol controllers. As a second-generation high-speed CAN transceiver, it delivers significant improvements over first- and second-generation devices (e.g., TJA1040), providing enhanced EMC and ESD performance, along with the following features: ideal passive behavior on the CAN bus when the supply voltage is switched off; an ultra-low current standby mode with bus wake-up capability; the TJA1049T-3-1Z-TD can be directly interfaced with microcontrollers operating at supply voltages from 3V to 5V. The TJA1049 implements the CAN physical layer as defined in ISO 11898-2:2016; this implementation supports reliable communication at data rates up to 5Mbit/s during the CAN FD fast phase. These features make the TJA1049 an excellent choice for a wide range of high-speed CAN networks as well as for nodes that require low-power modes with CAN bus wake-up capability.
