Introduction
UMW ST485 is a low-power transceiver for RS-485 and RS-422 communications. The IC contains one driver and one receiver. The UMW ST485 driver slew rate is not limited, allowing data transmission rates up to 2.5Mbps. With the driver unloaded or fully loaded and disabled, the supply current of these transceivers ranges from 120µA to 500µA. All devices are powered by a single 5V supply. The driver features short-circuit current limiting and is protected against excessive power dissipation by a thermal shutdown circuit that forces the driver outputs into a high-impedance state. The receiver inputs feature failsafe protection, guaranteeing a logic high output if the inputs are open-circuited. The UMW ST485 is designed for half-duplex applications.
