Introduction
The LM2940 is a cost-effective LDO IC capable of delivering 1A output current across the entire operating temperature range, with a typical dropout voltage of 0.5V and a maximum dropout voltage not exceeding 1V. When the difference between input and output voltage exceeds 3V, an internal quiescent current reduction circuit activates to limit the total quiescent current consumption within the specified value. For automotive applications, the LM2940 also features reverse battery protection and immunity to 2× battery voltage transients, along with output short-circuit current protection, over-temperature protection, and overvoltage protection.
