Introduction
The AD5428/AD5440/AD5447 are CMOS, 8/10/12-bit, dual-channel, current output DACs. These devices operate from a 2.5 V to 5.5 V supply, making them suitable for battery-powered applications and many others.
Fabricated using a CMOS submicron process, these devices offer excellent four-quadrant multiplication characteristics, with a large-signal multiplication bandwidth of up to 10 MHz.
The DAC data readback feature allows users to read the contents of the DAC register via the DB pins. At power-up, the internal registers and latches are filled with zeros, and the DAC output is at zero scale.
The full-scale output current is determined by the externally applied reference input voltage (V_REF). When used with an external current-to-voltage precision amplifier, the integrated feedback resistor (R_FB) provides temperature tracking and full-scale voltage output.
The AD5428 is available in a 20-lead TSSOP package, while the AD5440/AD5447 DACs are available in a 24-lead TSSOP package.
The AD5428/AD5440/AD5447 are CMOS 8/10/12-bit, dual-channel, current output DACs consisting of standard inverted R-2R ladder configurations. The feedback resistor R_FB A has a value of R, with a typical value of 10 kΩ (minimum 8 kΩ, maximum 12 kΩ). When I_out1 and AGND are maintained at the same potential, a continuous current flows through each ladder pin regardless of the digital input code, so the input resistance at V_REF A always maintains a constant nominal value of R. The DAC output (I_out) is code-dependent, producing varying resistance and capacitance values. When selecting an external amplifier, the impedance variation generated by the DAC at the inverting input node of the amplifier must be taken into account.
