This series of voltage regulators are monolithic integrated DC-DC converter circuits that provide all the active functions of a step-down switching regulator, capable of driving 1A load current with excellent line and load regulation. These devices are available in 3.3V, 5V, 12V fixed output voltage and adjustable output voltage versions. They require minimal external components, are easy to use, and feature internal frequency compensation and a fixed-frequency oscillator. The switching frequency is 300kHz, allowing the use of smaller filter components compared to lower-frequency switching regulators. Standard inductors are available from multiple manufacturers, greatly simplifying switching power supply design. Output voltage accuracy is guaranteed to ±4% and oscillator frequency accuracy to ±15% under specified input voltage and output load conditions. An external shutdown function is provided, with a typical standby current of 50uA during shutdown. The output switch features cycle-by-cycle current limiting and thermal shutdown for comprehensive protection under fault conditions. Available in SOP8 package.
