Introduction
The AD7949 is an 8-channel, 14-bit, charge redistribution, successive approximation register (SAR) ADC operating from a single supply (VDD).
The AD7949 integrates all the components required for a multichannel, low power data acquisition system, including: a true 14-bit SAR ADC with no missing codes; an 8-channel, low crosstalk multiplexer for configuring inputs as single-ended (with or without a reference ground), differential, or bipolar; an internal low drift voltage reference (selectable 2.5 V or 4.096 V) with buffer; a temperature sensor; an optional single-pole filter; and a sequencer for sequential, continuous sampling across multiple channels.
The AD7949 uses a simple SPI interface for writing to the configuration register and receiving conversion results. The SPI interface operates from a separate supply (VIO), which sets the master logic level. Power consumption is proportional to throughput rate.
The AD7949 is available in a 20-lead miniature LFCSP package and is rated for an operating temperature range of −40°C to +85°C.
