Introduction
The Broadcom® AFBR-58xxx series transceivers provide system designers with products for implementing Fast Ethernet, FDDI, and ATM designs at rates from 100 Mb/s to 125 Mbaud. All transceivers feature the industry-standard 1×9 SIP package style with duplex SC or duplex ST connector interfaces. The AFBR-5803AQZ and AFBR-5803ATQZ are 1300 nm products whose optical performance complies with the FDDI PMD standard: ISO/IEC 9314-3: 1990 and ANSI X3.166 – 1990. These transceivers, designed for 2 km multimode fiber backbone links, feature a compact 1×9 duplex SC or ST package style. The AFBR-5803AQZ/ATQZ is suitable for ATM 100-Mb/s interfaces and Fast Ethernet 100BASE-FX interfaces. ATM Forum User-Network Interface Specification Version 3.0, Section 2.3, defines the physical layer of the ATM 100-Mb/s multimode fiber interface as the FDDI PMD standard. Similarly, the Fast Ethernet Alliance defines the physical layer of Fast Ethernet 100BASE-FX as the FDDI PMD standard.
