TJA1051 is a high-speed CAN transceiver that provides an interface between a CAN protocol controller and the physical two-wire CAN bus. The transceiver is designed for high-speed CAN applications in the automotive industry, providing differential transmit and receive capability to the CAN protocol controller. It belongs to a new generation of high-speed CAN transceivers with significant improvements over the TJA1050, offering better EMC and ESD performance, along with the following features: ideal passive behavior on the CAN bus when power is switched off; TJA1051T/3 and TJA1051TK/3 can directly interface with microcontrollers supplied with voltages from 3 V to 5 V. The TJA1051 implements the CAN physical layer as defined in ISO 11898-2:2016 and SAE J2284-1 to SAE J2284-5; this implementation supports reliable communication at data rates up to 5 Mbit/s during the CAN FD fast phase. These features make the TJA1051 an ideal choice for all types of high-speed CAN networks, suitable for nodes that do not require a standby mode with bus wake-up functionality. Bus pins feature high ESD handling capability, bus pins are protected against transient disturbances in automotive environments, transmit data dominant timeout function, undervoltage detection on pins VCC and VIO, thermal protection, and support for heavily loaded CAN networks.
