Introduction
The TPS61322 is a synchronous boost converter with a quiescent current of only 6.5 µA. The TPS61322 provides a power solution for products powered by alkaline batteries, NiMH rechargeable batteries, or single-cell lithium-ion batteries. This boost converter is based on a hysteretic control topology with synchronous rectification to achieve maximum efficiency at minimum quiescent current. The TPS61322 also allows the use of small-sized external inductors and capacitors. At 1.5 V input to 2.2 V output conversion, efficiency can exceed 90% at a 10 mA load.
The TPS61322 can also support high output current applications with an external Schottky diode. The TPS613222A, at 3 V input to 5 V output conversion, can deliver output current capability exceeding 500 mA with an external Schottky diode connected in parallel with the internal rectifying FET.
The output voltage is internally set to fixed output voltages ranging from 1.8 V to 5.5 V in 0.1 V steps. Therefore, only two external components are required to achieve the desired output voltage. The TPS61322 also implements thermal shutdown protection.
The TPS61322 is available in a 2.9 mm x 1.3 mm 3-pin SOT package or a 2.9 mm x 1.6 mm 5-pin SOT package.
