Introduction
The UCC28610 elevates the performance and reliability of AC and DC consumer power supply solutions to a whole new level. A pulse-width modulation (PWM) algorithm varies the switching frequency and primary current while maintaining discontinuous or transition mode operation across the entire operating range. Combined with a cascode architecture, these technological innovations improve efficiency, reliability, and system cost in a traditional flyback architecture. The UCC28610 provides a predictable maximum power threshold and a timed response to overloads, enabling safe handling of inrush power requirements. The overload fault response can be user-configured for retry or latch modes. Additional protection features include output overvoltage detection, programmable maximum on-time, and thermal shutdown.
