Introduction
HX7227-Q/HX7227-MS is a bidirectional, low-power, dual-port high-speed USB 2.0 analog switch with integrated protection for USB Type-C systems. The device is configurable as a dual 2:1 or 1:2 switch, optimized for USB 2.0 DP/DM lines in USB Type-C environments. HX7227-Q/HX7227-MS integrates overvoltage protection on the C0+/- pins, capable of withstanding voltages up to DC 30V, with an auto-shutdown circuit designed to protect downstream system components. GPIO control for SEL and EN is compatible with 1.8V logic levels. HX7227-Q/HX7227-MS is available in UQFN 1.4x1.8-10L and MSOP10 packages, both lead-free and halogen-free, making them ideal for space-constrained mobile applications and environments. The device is designed to minimize quiescent power consumption, with pull-down resistors of up to 6MΩ integrated on both the SEL and /OE pins. The weak pull-down resistor on the SEL pin saves power and ensures Channel 1 is enabled by default, while the weak pull-down resistor on the /OE pin ensures the device operates after power-up. It is a high-speed, low-power DPDT analog switch featuring 30V overvoltage protection and bidirectional self-powered operation, with a supply voltage range of 2.5V to 5.5V, for high-speed USB 2.0 signal switching between hubs or controllers in handheld devices such as mobile phones, digital cameras, and laptops. The dedicated OVP circuit can withstand up to 30V from Vbus shorting to D+ or D- during USB device power-up or power-down, ensuring the device is not damaged and isolating high voltage from downstream circuitry for downstream protection. The OVP circuit integrated in the switch IC also greatly simplifies design, reduces solution size, and addresses pain points for designers in practical applications. When the voltage on the data lines is excessively high, the internal OVP protection circuit activates, responding at voltages up to 5.5V with an average response time of 10.4nS, rapidly disconnecting the connection to protect internal circuitry from high-voltage loading damage.
