Introduction
CAN is a serial communication protocol designed for reliable, high-speed data transmission in harsh environments. TVS diodes offer a low-cost solution for conducted and radiated EMI as well as ESD noise issues. The transient noise immunity and reliability of CAN transceivers can be easily enhanced by adding external TVS diodes to guard against transient voltage faults. This device is a transient voltage suppression solution for CAN data communication lines. It is a low-capacitance, bidirectional TVS device in a compact SOT-23 package, optimized specifically for CAN2.1 (CAN-FD). Based on Zener technology, the device features an optimized active region of the PN junction to provide robust protection against transient EMI surge voltages and ESD. The device has been tested to exceed the EMI and ESD specifications of popular high-speed CAN networks.
