Introduction
This transient voltage suppression diode is specifically designed for asymmetric protection in RS-485 multi-point data transmission standard applications. It can be used to protect equipment from transient voltages caused by electrostatic discharge, electrical fast transients, and lightning strikes. Its integrated 400W peak pulse power handling capability addresses the higher transient voltage levels that may occur in extended common-mode applications, providing greater equipment reliability and eliminating the "guesswork" required when using Zener diodes not rated to handle such transient conditions. The integrated design helps reduce voltage overshoot associated with trace inductance. Its low clamping voltage minimizes the stress imposed on the protected transceiver. The SOT-23 package provides design flexibility for "compact" PCB layouts.
Features
- Peak pulse power of 400W under 8/20μs per pulse conditions
- Transient protection for asymmetric data lines per IEC61000-4-2: ±15kV, IEC61000-4-4: 40A, IEC61000-4-5: 12A
- Protection for two +12V to -7V lines
- Low capacitance
- Low leakage current
- Low clamping voltage
- Solid-state silicon avalanche technology
- MSL 1 compliant
Applications
- RS-485 transceiver protection
- Security systems
- ATMs
- HFC systems
- Networking
