Introduction
The ADP196 is a high-side load switch powered by a 1.8 V to 5.5 V supply. This load switch provides power domain isolation, helping to extend battery life. It integrates a low on-resistance N-channel MOSFET supporting continuous currents above 3 A with minimal power dissipation. Additionally, RDSON remains constant regardless of VIN voltage. With a low quiescent current of 25 μA and ultralow shutdown current, the ADP196 is ideal for battery-powered portable devices. The built-in enable logic level translator makes the ADP196 compatible with a wide range of processors and GPIO controllers. If the junction temperature exceeds 125°C, the overtemperature protection circuit activates to protect both the ADP196 and downstream circuitry from damage. Overcurrent protection is provided through a constant current limit. The ADP196-01 integrates an internal fast output discharge circuit to discharge the output capacitor when the output is disabled. The ADP196 is available in a WLCSP package with an extremely small PCB footprint of less than 1.5 mm² and a height of only 0.60 mm. The ADP196 is offered in an ultracompact 1.0 mm × 1.5 mm, 0.5 mm pitch, 6-lead WLCSP package and a 2.0 mm × 2.0 mm × 0.55 mm, 0.65 mm pitch, 6-lead LFCSP package.
