Description
The MAXM20343 and MAXM20344 are ultra-low quiescent current, non-inverting buck-boost Himalaya modules with integrated inductors. The MAXM20343 and MAXM20344 operate over a wide input range of 0.5V to 5.5V, support up to 2.5W output power, and allow the use of small, low-cost input and output capacitors. The output voltage is adjustable from 2.5V to 5.5V. These modules significantly reduce design complexity and manufacturing risk, offering a true plug-and-play power solution that shortens time-to-market.
The MAXM20343 and MAXM20344 employ a unique control algorithm that transitions between buck, buck-boost, and boost operating modes, minimizing discontinuities and sub-harmonics in output voltage ripple. Both modules use an adaptive frequency mechanism to improve efficiency at light loads. A low startup input voltage of 1.9V allows users to power the modules from a variety of sources, while a minimum operating voltage of 0.5V enables maximum energy extraction from the supply. The MAXM20343 provides active discharge during shutdown, allowing the output voltage to decay quickly. The MAXM20344 does not provide active discharge during shutdown, but supports applications with pre-biased output voltages.
