Introduction
NEH7100 is a high-performance energy harvesting power management IC designed for low-power applications. It integrates a rich set of auxiliary features, including energy storage element protection, USB charging, and LDO/load switch. The device is optimized for harvesting energy from light sources, including various indoor and outdoor photovoltaic cells. Other energy sources such as kinetic energy (motion, vibration), thermal variation, and electromagnetic energy are also supported, but may require external auxiliary components. The NEH7100 harvests energy from a suitable harvester to charge energy storage elements such as rechargeable batteries or supercapacitors. Its built-in MPPT technology employs an embedded hill-climbing algorithm to deliver maximum power to the energy storage element. This MPPT function is compatible with any suitable harvester and can optimize efficiency at intervals as low as every 0.5 seconds under rapidly changing harvesting conditions, achieving outstanding performance. The NEH7100 is available in a 28-pin, 4 mm × 4 mm HVQFN28 package.
Features
- Input power range: 15 μW to 100 mW
- Efficiency up to 95%
- Ultra-fast MPPT interval
- Battery protection: overvoltage protection, undervoltage detection, overcurrent protection
- USB charging current up to 200 mA
- Configurable output voltage LDO
- Configurable via hardcode or I²C
- Cold-start support for battery-less design
- Minimal BOM, no inductor required
- Compatible with batteries, supercapacitors, and hybrid capacitors
