Introduction
The MDS18B20 digital thermometer provides 9 to 12-bit resolution temperature measurements, with temperature alarm functionality configurable via programmable nonvolatile memory. The device communicates using a 1-Wire protocol, requiring only a single signal line and a ground line. Its temperature measurement range is -55°C to +125°C, with a measurement accuracy of ±0.4°C over the -10°C to 70°C range. The device can operate in parasite power mode, eliminating the need for an external power supply. Each device has a globally unique serial number, enabling multiple devices to be daisy-chained on the same bus, allowing a single processor to control multiple sensors distributed across a wide area. This networking approach is well-suited for applications such as environmental control, building and equipment temperature monitoring, industrial temperature measurement, and process monitoring.
