MAX483 is a half-duplex high-speed transceiver for RS-485/RS-422 communications, integrating one driver and one receiver. It features failsafe protection, overvoltage protection, overcurrent protection, and thermal protection, with hot-swap capability on the /RE and DE pins. The MAX483 incorporates a slew-rate-limited driver to minimize EMI and reflections caused by improper cable termination, enabling error-free data transmission at up to 500kbps.
