The MAX481 is a half-duplex, high-speed transceiver for RS-485/RS-422 communications, incorporating one driver and one receiver. It features fail-safe protection, overvoltage protection, overcurrent protection, and thermal protection, with hot-swap capability on the /RE and DE pins. The MAX481 features a slew-rate-limited driver to reduce EMI and reflections caused by improper cable termination, enabling error-free data transmission at up to 500kbps.
