MAX3471 is a half-duplex high-speed transceiver for RS-485/RS-422 communications, integrating one driver and one receiver. Designed for lithium battery-powered RS-485/RS-422 applications, its wide supply voltage range ensures proper operation throughout the entire lifespan of a lithium battery. It features failsafe protection, overvoltage protection, overcurrent protection, and thermal protection, with hot-swap capability on the /RE and DE pins. The low slew-rate driver reduces EMI and reflections caused by improper cable termination, enabling error-free data transmission at up to 500kbps. The device provides true failsafe operation, guaranteeing a logic-high receiver output when the receiver inputs are open or shorted. The receiver features 1/8 unit load input impedance (96kΩ), allowing up to 160 transceivers to be connected in parallel on the same communication bus.
