The ISL3158 is a half-duplex high-speed transceiver for RS-485/RS-422 communications, incorporating one driver and one receiver. It features fail-safe, overvoltage protection, overcurrent protection, and overtemperature protection, with hot-swap inputs on the /RE and DE ports. The low slew rate driver reduces EMI and reflections caused by improper cable termination, enabling error-free data transmission at up to 500 kbps. Operating from a 5V supply with 1/8 unit load, it allows up to 160 transceivers to be connected on the same bus. The supply voltage range is 4.75~5.25V, with fail-safe, overtemperature protection, current limiting, overvoltage protection, and hot-swap control port inputs. It offers excellent ESD protection, with HBM ±15KV, contact discharge per IEC61000-4-2 ±15KV.
