Introduction
CA-IS305xC is an isolated Controller Area Network (CAN) transceiver compliant with the ISO 11898-2 physical layer specification. The devices in this series feature SiO₂ insulation barrier isolation between the internal logic input and output buffers, capable of withstanding isolation voltages up to 3.75kV/5kV_RMS (60s) (wide-body SOIC package) and a typical CMTI of ±150kV/μs. The insulation barrier blocks ground loops between the logic side and bus side, helping to reduce noise caused by high ground potential differences between ports and ensuring correct data transmission.
CA-IS305xC operates from a single 3.0V to +5.5V supply on the logic side, enabling easy interfacing with CAN controllers at different voltage levels. Combined with an external isolated power supply, it forms a complete isolated CAN port. The transceiver supports data rates up to 5Mbps, and provides current-limiting protection, thermal protection, and ±52V overvoltage protection at the driver output. Dominant state timeout detection prevents bus lockup caused by controller faults or TXD input failures. In addition, the CAN receiver input of this series features a ±30V common-mode input range (CMR), far exceeding the –2V to +7V range defined by ISO 11898, providing reliable system protection.
CA-IS3050C and CA-IS3052C are available in wide-body 8-pin SOIC and 16-pin wide-body SOIC packages, compatible with most industry-standard isolated CAN transceivers. Additionally, CA-IS3050C is offered in a DUB 8-pin package with a rated isolation voltage of 3750V_RMS. All devices operate over a temperature range of –40°C to 125°C.
