Descrizione
CAT1161/2 is a complete memory and supervisory solution based on a microcontroller system. Fabricated in low-power CMOS technology, it integrates a serial EEPROM (16K) with hardware memory write protection, a system power supply monitor with undervoltage protection, and a watchdog timer. The memory interface is implemented via I2C bus. The 1.6-second watchdog circuit restores the system to a known good state when a software or hardware fault causes the system to halt or "hang." The CAT1161 watchdog monitors the SDA line, eliminating the need for additional PCB traces. The lower-cost CAT1162 omits the watchdog timer. The power supply monitor and reset circuit protect memory and system controllers during power-up, power-down, and undervoltage conditions. Five reset threshold voltages support 5V, 3.3V, and 3V systems. If the supply voltage falls outside the tolerance range, the reset signal is asserted to prevent the system microcontroller, ASIC, or peripherals from operating. The reset signal is deasserted approximately 200 ms after the supply voltage exceeds the reset threshold level. With both active-high and active-low reset outputs, interfacing to microcontrollers and other ICs is straightforward. In addition, the reset pin can be used as a debounced input for manual pushbutton reset functionality. The CAT1161/2 memory features 16-byte pages. Furthermore, the write-protect pin WP and VCC sensing circuit provide hardware data protection, preventing write operations to memory when VCC falls below the reset threshold or fails to reach the reset threshold during power-up. Available packages include 8-pin DIP and 8-pin SO surface-mount packages.
