Introduction
Each OPB822 and OPB826 slotted switch consists of two infrared LEDs and two NPN silicon phototransistors mounted on opposite sides of a 0.090-inch (2.29 mm) wide slot (OPB822) or a 0.100-inch (2.54 mm) wide slot (OPB826). The OPB822 uses a side-by-side mounting configuration, while the OPB826 uses a top-bottom mounting configuration. The OPB822S features 0.01-inch × 0.04-inch (0.25 mm × 1.02 mm) apertures in front of the two phototransistors, while the OPB822SD has apertures in front of both the two phototransistors and the two emitters. The OPB826S features 0.04-inch × 0.04-inch (1.02 mm × 1.02 mm) apertures in front of the two phototransistors, while the OPB826SD has apertures in front of both the two phototransistors and the two emitters. The dual-channel design enables travel direction sensing, and the low-cost plastic housing reduces potential ambient light interference while providing dust protection.
